Chris Raffaelli

Update - 7/22/08

Raffaelli Motorsport is a confirmed entrant in the 3rd round of the Driving Impressions SCCA Pro – IT Series event at the newly paved Limerock Park, www.limerock.com, for August 2nd. Coming off a stellar performance at the SCCA NER, Competition School, www.scca.org, in Loudon, NH, Chris will pilot the #24 1991 Honda CRX Si for the first sanctioned wheel to wheel race of his young racing career in the Improved Touring A class.

SCCA is sanctioning a National level race that weekend. The Pro-IT event is in its first season and is a new concept to bring Improved Touring to a national level. Since this series is a ‘late add on’ to the regular program, track time is limited for Pro – IT racers. There will be a 15 minute qualifying session around noon with the 45 minute main event beginning around 4pm.

As of this notice on July 22nd, Chris will be on track with 31 other cars with more than 120 cars entered for the balance of the National racing program. The amateur racing at Limerock is some of the most competitive in the country and the track will be busy all day long.

This is Chris’ first race and he is very excited but he is clear in his goal. "I need to stay focused on getting that signature at this event. I have prepped the car the best that I can and need to run my race at my level. Winning this race will not get the sign off I need." says Chris.

He needs to obtain a signature in his log book from the Chief Stewart indicating a successful event. This signature is one of two required within the next 20 months to remove the provisional condition from his racing license and convert to a full Regional racing license. Winning or loosing does not play a part in determining a successful event. A successful event is determined by on track awareness of other drivers and compliance with the rules and procedures. The Virtual Drafting Solutions #24 CRX Si has purposely been under tuned to allow Chris the best opportunity to keep the car under control while under the provisional status and fulfill his goal.

The race is open to all spectators. If you have not been to Limerock Park before, it is a beautiful track set in Lakeville, CT at the base of the Berkshire Mountains. The trip into Limerock is just as beautiful.

Use 60 White Hollow Road Lakeville, CT 06039 to locate it in your GPS.

You will be able to walk anywhere on the grounds, getting within a few dozen feet or so of the track and be able to walk through the paddock where the racers and race cars will be kept. If you would like to join Kim, Ashley and Deanna as they cheer on their favorite new racer, please contact us so we can give you more details.

The next event is currently being targeted for October 11 at Watkins Glen International Raceway. www.theglen.com

See you at the track!
